Did You Know? Fashion

Just if you were wondering... (;

The Mini Skirt  is a symbol of the "Swinging-Sixties" introduced by the British designer Mary Quant in 1964. It revolutionized the fashion industry, which by then had been lead Paris fashion shows.
     By 1968, mini skirts were so short that dry cleaners started charging by length!

 The skimpy two-piece bikini of the 1950's got its name from a Pacific island being used as a test site for atomic bombs. The idea was that the explosion had blown all the women's clothes away.

 Traditionally, make-up was made from any of about 5,000 natural ingredients.  Eyeliner is made of kohl, or powdered antimony (a mineral).

 The first jeans were made in 1874 for workmen. Today, jeans are worn by both genders in every country, as working clothes or as a fashion item. (Designer jeans) Carrying a top label can cost up to $900!

 Daring women first wore trousers in the late 1800's to go cycling. But they were not worn much until the 1940's. Women factory workers started wearing them for safety and comfort. They them became a fashion item.
